This is a very nice campground and the owners and staff really care about the campgrounds and the campers. As mentioned in other posts the staff is always around cleaning, trimming, picking up the garbage, doing whatever to keep the campground looking clean and fresh. Upon arrival the campground did look a little tight for a 35 foot motorhome towing with a tow dolly, but we were pleasantly surprised. The site we were on was clean with plenty of room for the slides. The kids loved the heated pool and the bathrooms were immaculate. The camp ground is a perfect location from the entertainment part of the Dells. Also as mentioned in previous post, there are train tracks across the street from the entrance to the campground. You can hear the train but how much it bothers you would be up to the individual, we’re from Chicago so the train is natural background noise to us. Train or no train, this is a very nice campground that’s in a perfect location for seeing the Dells and we will definitely be back.
This was our first time at this park and would definitely return next time we are in the Des Moines area. The park is about a 15 minute drive from West Des Moines but its all highway. The park was clean. Our camp site was reasonably level with a gravel pad and a generous amount of grass. All of the camp sites were 75 feet long. Very few trees but the surrounding countryside around the campground was very nice. The staff was very nice, upon checking they will guide you to your site and help you get all lined up with your connections. The owners were fantastic people. After talking to them for 5 minutes you feel like you've known them for years. They were very helpful in giving us suggestions on what to do in the area and provided us with all the information and directions we needed.
This was our second time staying at this park and would definitely return again. The campground is a bit of a drive from Minneapolis / St. Paul but most of the driving is highway and once you get to know you way around its really not so bad. The amenities were great, level concrete pad with a good amount of grass, a picnic bench and a fire pit. It has paved interior roads with 24 hour security. The park is part of the Mystic Lake casino so if you want to visit the casino a bus will pick you up at your campsite with just a phone call. The bathrooms were very clean. They have their own gas and diesel pumps and an interior RV/car wash. Those traveling with kids will love Playworks. It is like a Chucky cheese and a daycare center rolled into one. You can drop your children off for a few hours to have some quiet time while the kids have a blast playing video games and climbing in the 3 story jungle gym. The campground is very clean and well maintained. My only complaint would be the laundry prices, $2.00 for wash and also for the dryer. I think that’s a little steep. Other than that this is a great campground.
